On the brink of political irrelevancy after two years of mistakes, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson is trying a new approach; reconciliation.  Johnson appeared at the press conference today at 12 noon where the powerbrokers within the BCDO lined up for Rev. Vernon Walton to replace Connie Wagner on the Freeholder Board.  Standing in that line for the first time in years was Gordon Johnson.

Party leaders welcomed Johnson’s move, with one e-mailing IB: “I was surprised to see him there [at the press conference], but I’m glad he’s coming to his senses.”

Senator Loretta Weinberg also endorsed Walton, via a statement which was read by County Chairman Joe Ferriero.  Weinberg said in the statement entitled “Endorsement of Reverend Vernon Walton” that “I congratulate Reverend Walton on his being endorsed by the Bergen County Chairman and other Party leaders. I am happy that a resident of District 37 will add to the diversity of the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders…”

Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle was not seen nor heard from.
