MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT ORTIZ AS HE ROLLS OUT 2008 GOP TICKET
Here’s another e-mail from an unhappy Republican:
Joe,
At the Lincoln Day dinner, people were busy circulating petitions and many were mildly surprised to see that Kathe Donovan is going again for County Clerk as a Republican.
Paul Duggan is going again for his second try as the South Bergen Candidate and it seems that Chairman Ortiz has selected the Golden Children from Upper Route 4 including Chris Calabrese from Upper Saddle River (who never registered as a Republican until recently) and the newly minted Young Republicans Vice Chairwoman Deirdre Woodbyrne of Ramsey.
This will make for an interesting race yet again considering the BCDO has not removed from its blue collar ticket the failed double mayor tandem of David “the Coin Collector” Ganz, and Bernadette “33%” McPherson. Their ticket did get stronger though with the addition of Vernon Walton.
As for Senator Bill Baroni, many present didn’t think he constituted a big name “get” for Lincoln Day. Trust me if the media were permitted to attend they would have sat there with eyes glazed over just like the rest of us.
I like Sen. Baroni. He is really a great guy, but he really isn’t a big media roll out unless he’s going to run for Governor.
With regard to El Capitan Ortiz Lincoln day is just part and parcel to the way Ortiz does business - cater to a small microcosm and applaud yourself for being so open and inclusive.
He’s sort of the reverse Talarico. [Former BCRO Chairman] Guy [Talarico] may not have agreed with you but at least he gave you the impression that you scored something when he granted you 10 minutes of face time. Guy was a lot of things, some good and some bad, but he was never arrogant like Ortiz.
