Anyone who knows our friend Loretta Weinberg knows she doesn’t like to lose.  They also know, from tuna fish to fishy politics, she and her supporters are usually doing the very things they attack their opponents for doing.

Conflicts of interest?  Weinberg took thousands upon thousands from the healthcare lobbyists while she voted as a member of the state legislature’s healthcare committee.  Weinberg’s Real Bergen Democrats ran this year demanding reform from that kind of pay-to-play.   Her running mate, Gordon Johnson, opposed dual office holding then ran to dual office hold.

Sleazy politics? Weinberg stayed mum when her prime Englewood supporter, former Municipal Leader Violet Cherry, had subpoenas flying all around her from Chris Christie (up until last month) for aledged abuse of tax dollars as city Healthcare Director for reportedly using government funds for political purposes.  Cherry actually ran for reelection June 3^rd on the Real Bergen Democrats ticket with Weinberg’s backing while attacking Bergen County Democratic  Boss Joe Ferriero as unethical.

Questionable fundraising?  Weinberg’s Real Bergen Democrats raised and spent a substantial amount of money for the failed primary challenge to Ferriero, paying for glossy mailings and paying thousands upon thousands for out of state workers to knock on doors throughout District 37.  Not one cent has been reported to the state Election Law Enforcement Commission on the numerous report deadlines that have passed.  When opponents simply file an ELEC report late, Weinberg calls the Attorney General to investigate.  Is she calling the AG to investigate her Real Bergen Democrats for failure to comply at all?

Those around Weinberg and company whisper that she and her team weren’t all that happy the day after the June 3^rd Democratic primary.  After all, under the best possible circumstances they lost big.  Weinberg now controls less Democratic County Committee seats in her district than she did before June 3^rd.  And Ferriero?  Under the worst possible circumstances he won bigger than ever; and many argue that has made him even more powerful.   

Our sources in the GOP say they hope Weinberg never stops.  “She’s our best friend,” said on Bergen GOP operative.  "We want Ferriero spending his money fighting her, not us. "
