TRUMP TO HIPP: I'll EnCap You.

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/35

This is our personal winner of the best screw you letter of the year. Read The Donald telling Rutherford Mayor John Hipp to go to Hell. Hey John, you’re playing in the big leagues now. These guys don’t take kindly to their major investments being played with by campaign rhetoric. No wonder Hipp has a primary on his hands after just a few months on the job.

WHEN IN ROME, DO AS…

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/119http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/80

Joe Ferriero and Fred Dabies kept raking in the cash for Team Clinton this past week, this time at a fundraiser in Teaneck. The guest of honor was none other than former President Bill Clinton.

Ferriero is keeping financial commitments to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in spite of the difficulties it is facing. The former President was reported to have repeatedly told many in attendance how much he and Hillary will remember that Joe Ferriero stood by their side.

Makes one wonder, if Obama keeps tripping could Bergen County end up being the former home of the next Ambassador to Italy?

JAY MAKES GREAT SPOTS, CHECK THIS ONE OUT ON HOW FRANK LAUTENBERG CHANGED HIS...

It’s Good to Be the Mayor!

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/113

North Arlington Mayor Peter Massa lost his cat, and our hearts go out to him.  Now, that being said, did he really need to have a Mel Brooks moment and decide that it’s good to be the mayor?

Using a borough phone directory of residents’ numbers to broadcast a robo call to find your missing pet?  Come on Pete, what were you thinking?

Petey’s not the only guilty party here; Count de Monet Terence Wall, the borough administrator, actually came up with this harebrained scheme to recover the mayor’s beloved cat, Max.

Of course it goes with out saying if one of the borough’s peasants from the Rue de Merde decided he needed a copy of the borough’s phone list for some equally frivolous purpose he’d be guillotined.

Pete, here’s some advice from me to you; you may want to find yourself a garçon de pisse and flee Versailles before the peasants come and place your head on the block.

Focarino the Spoiler?

Several highly placed Bergen GOP sources have confirmed that longtime BCRO activist/operative Ben Focarino has been urged to run for chairman in June's contest.

Members of Chairman Rob Ortiz's camp have approached Focarino to run for chairman in an effort to siphon votes away from Bob Yudin.

"Ortiz could only manage about 40% of the county committee vote for re-election at this point," one source told us before adding "Focarino's voters aren't going to support Ortiz. They would likely support Yudin in a two-way race. His candidacy could split the ‘anti’ vote against Ortiz."

THE INSIDE STORY: BOSS JOE BITCH SLAPPED BY ROTHMAN

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/41http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/107

Hard to believe that the “Boss” bumbled so badly; fumbling the entry of Rob Andrews into Bergen County so arrogantly. Well, maybe the latter part isn’t so hard to believe.

By most insider accounts, Joe Ferriero decided that Rob Andrews should be given the line in Bergen.  There was just one problem: Steve Rothman had a fit and had an uncharacteristic public temper tantrum.

What ensued was a nightmare of epic proportion with Democratic insiders scrambling for cover as Rothman threatened to jump the Organization column and run with Lautenberg if Ferriero engineered Andrews becoming the Party choice. This was, as they say, a moment when you get to know who your real friends are.

LAUTENBERG vs. ANDREWS

DOES FERRIERO LOOK LIKE A JACKASS?

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/106

Boss Joe may have delivered Bergen County to Hillary Clinton on February 5th, but he has clearly backed the wrong horse for President.

Hillary Clinton is getting slapped around the country by the voters one week and the media the next. It’s sure looking like she’s going down for the count this month.

Byrne's Late Entry Likely to Burn Lautenberg in Bergen

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/103http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/104http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/105

Frank Lautenberg is holding a “Unity Rally” today in Trenton. But insiders say that while the AARP may be unified behind him, 84 year old Lautenberg shouldn’t hold his breath waiting for BCDO Democrats to show up. Most BCDO insiders say they have more important things to do, like pick their kids up at school.

The anticipated entry of Tom Byrne, former Governor Brendan Byrne’s son, into the Senate Democratic primary is changing everything for Bergen County Democrats. Many have never been huge fans of the multi-millionaire Senator from Cliffside Park who has done very little financially (or in any other way) for the Bergen County Party while being a very high maintence ego.

YIKES! IT'S MURRY SABRIN! Ortiz’s Next Big Problem

The BCRO finds itself in a bit of a pickle these days as the unexpectedly strong candidacy of Murray Sabrin threatens to topple what is left of its establishment in June's primary.

It was never supposed to be this way for embattled rookie Chairman Rob Ortiz. Wealthy and moderate Anne Estabrook was supposed to walk away with the BCRO's endorsement for US Senate in June. There was never supposed to a primary battle between the likes of "Jersey Joe" Pennacchio, a populist neo fascist who keeps a copy of "None Dare Call It Treason," in his home library versus Dr. Murray Sabrin, a true principled libertarian, well mostly a true libertarian.

THE ODD COUPLE II

LET'S REVISIT THIS ONE

And “TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS EXPECTED"...resigning with a quote from Spiderman.

GULACK WIMPS OUT: “I won’t be there if she doesn’t (let me) come.”

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/31http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/97

Weinberg ally and Fairlawn County Committeeman Robert Gulack failed to show up for Boss Joe Ferriero’s invitation to an unrestricted platform Thursday night before the Democrat’s By-Laws Committee where Ferriero said Gulack was welcome to present his “reform agenda” out in the open. Gulack has been attacking Ferriero for not doing this for months. While many were amazed that Ferriero gave "Grassroots Reformer" Gulack a soapbox on which to stand, even more where shocked that Gulack got cold feet and would not get up on it.

WHORE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

IMAGINE!

THE GOOD TIMES ARE OVER.

SHOOTING FROM THE HIPP (WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM GOP “BOSS” ORTIZ)

Rutherford’s Mayor, John Hipp, and the County Chairman of Bergen’s GOP seem to be talking out of both sides of their mouths.  We were fascinated to read Charlie Stiles column Sunday in which The Hippster not only agreed to meet with The Donald, he did so because his GOP political Party Boss Rob Ortiz twisted his arm.

Now Hipp says he will “politely listen” to The Donald, which certainly implies he admits rudely ignoring him before.  But if it isn’t your fiduciary responsibity as mayor to get you to return a call, you can always be sure your political “Boss” will step in to run things.

VLAD THE IMPALER vs. MADAME NHU

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/92http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/93

We really got into Mike Kelly’s Record column yesterday blasting Joe Ferriero. Man, this guy can write. The Record usually uses only a pedestrian label and calls Ferriero a “Boss” in their attacks. But Kelly says Ferriero is “Vlad the Impaler!”

According to Wikipedia, Kelly’s Ferriero is on a par with a man who was “known for the exceedingly cruel punishments he imposed during his reign” and was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel.

That’s tough.

Regardless, let’s run with it. Ferriero as “Dracula!” What is Loretta Weinberg? Well, Kelly says she is just “not perfect.”

No, No, No, Mike. That doesn’t work. No “real” excitement. No “legitimate” battle.  The people want stories with back-and-forth “believable” action!

There’s a lot of history to draw from, and some more recent than the 1400s.

GOP SENATE CANDIDATES COME TO BERGEN HQ

With the BCRO screening coming up this Thursday, the US Senate race is heating up with Bergen resident Murray Sabrin launching a series of attacks on Anne Estabrook for her donations to Democrats like John Kerry and Bob Menendez, and election law lapses.

FINALLY THE PSYCHOLOGIST THE BERGEN DEMOCRATS NEED. SCHULMAN DESERVES TO BE ELECTED FOR PULLING THIS OFF…

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/88

When was the last time we’ve seen Weinberg loyalist Steve Goldstein and anyone associated with Joe Ferriero agree at anytime on who should be a nominee of the Democratic Party in Bergen County?

MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT ORTIZ AS HE ROLLS OUT 2008 GOP TICKET

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/86

Here’s another e-mail from an unhappy Republican:

Joe,

At the Lincoln Day dinner, people were busy circulating petitions and many were mildly surprised to see that Kathe Donovan is going again for County Clerk as a Republican.

The Donovan Dilemma: Who the hell let these guys in?

In recent years the embattled BCRO has had intense intra-party struggles over which direction the party should go.  Struggling to define what a “big tent” BCRO should look like in 2006 liberal GOPers tied their hopes of leading the party to Kathe Donovan (running for County Executive) and Alan Marcus (running for BCRO Chairman) only to be defeated by the woefully under funded tandem of Todd Caliguire and Guy Talarcio.

THE LESSON FROM CONIGLIO

http://www.insidebergen.com/documents/show/85

Kudos to The Record’s Charlie Stile today for reminding us that the real answer to all these too close to call ethical issues with the state legislature is that members should be treated as full time employees who answer to the public.
